A story behind every tattoo…
Sometimes our vision is clouded by what’s behind us. Look past the rain and into the future!
My gift to my grandson, Keenan, for Christmas 2011: a book. About him. Of course.
From photos in the womb to birth to 3 1/2 years.
From superheroes to super dogs to his super people!
From pouts to smiles to laughter.
From eating to playing to wrestling.
From cardboard space shuttles to trees to bouncy houses.
Welcome to the world of a 3 ½ year old!
I wrote the story, took most of the pictures, and designed the book. With much appreciation, other pictures are from Sally Otis, Constance Otis, and other family members. The design was then uploaded to Blurb, a book printing company. Keenan has the hardcover version.

“This evening, Apple announced that Steve Jobs, its legendary leader, has died. Watch his powerful talk “How to live before you die” — in which Jobs urges us to pursue our dreams and see the opportunities in life’s setbacks, including death itself.” http://blog.ted.com/2011/10/05/remembering-steve-jobs/
Steve Jobs’ words in his speech should be posted on every doorway of every school, college, and university. My hope is that my children, grandson, and all the young people I have the privilege of being a part in their lives will pursue their dreams and see the opportunities in all things. Now, go!!!
(I know I’ve posted this picture before, but it is so fitting for this post!)
I found this excerpt from Alfie Kohn’s book, The Schools Our Children Deserve. It is a discussion based on research about literacy, specifically about whole language and phonics. Good stuff!
For all those interested in educational reform, this is a good blog post by Peter Gray.
